We've constructed five libraries to date. Hundreds of children attend our libraries each week, most of whom would otherwise go their entire education without ever holding a book or learning to read. Our librarians lead book clubs, facilitate learn-to-read programs, and provide homework assistance.

How do we get books to Nigeria and Cameroon?
We partner with a used car business to ship books out of the Port of Oakland, free of charge. Volunteers pack the books into used cars which are loaded into container ships bound for Lagos, Nigeria. We're always looking for culturally-appropriate children's books and school supplies to send over. Please email regina@brightmindsafrica.org if you have gently used books or school supplies you would like to donate.
